A Colorful Barn Retreat on the Banks of the Buffalo River

A rustic wooden house with a steep roof, multiple dormer windows, and a yellow door, surrounded by lush green trees and bushes, with two motorcycles parked outside on a gravel driveway.

About the barn.

A beautifully remodeled home set on the banks of the Buffalo River, featuring a one-of-a-kind dining turret with a glass roof that fills the space with natural light. After a day spent exploring the river, it offers a perfect haven for those who appreciate both nature and thoughtful design.

Just two miles from Buffalo River Resort, where you can rent tubes, canoes, and kayaks, and conveniently located off Highway 13, the property blends easy access with a sense of quiet escape. Enjoy a spacious patio with porch swings, a large primary bedroom with a dedicated workspace, a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and everything needed for a comfortable, extended stay.

Fully remodeled in the vision of Sarah Souther, the property’s previous owner, the home reflects a distinct sense of character and care. Sarah now serves as the custodian of Lismacue House in Tipperary, Ireland, and her influence is felt throughout in the home’s unique blend of charm, creativity, and detail.

Bright bedroom with a peach-colored bed, large window with outdoor view, mirrored closet doors, and modern chandelier.

Such a lovely space! My partner and I did a mini retreat here to get some writing and resting done. I loved the thoughtful and unique details of the design, and the screened in patio with swing beds was a great place to listen to the few minutes of rain we got and watch for fireflies. And we went down the road to the Buffalo River Resort for a little swimming! Would totally go back!
